| Cíle: | Regulation (EU) 1143/2014 is centred on a list of invasive alien species of Union concern. An EU-level horizon scanning exercise identified species likely to arrive, establish, spread and impact biodiversity or ecosystem services within ten years, aiming to propose at least 100 candidates. An updated methodology compiled species from global horizon scans and databases, refined the lists and conducted rapid assessments, followed by expert consensus at a workshop. This produced 165 species most likely to enter or spread in the EU, of which 57 pose the highest biodiversity risks. Challenges to listing species under the Regulation include limited or uncertain data, feasibility and resource constraints, and stakeholder opposition. In addition, 49 genera and six families were highlighted as groups with many invasive species requiring further policy measures to prevent impacts on European biodiversity. |
