Summary: Lichenized fungi from the Lecanora anopta/hypoptoides group are in need of modern taxonomic revision. This complex comprises crustose biatorine lichens that occupy mainly wood/bark in coniferous forests and that may indicate long forest continuity. Main objectives of the study is taxonomic revision on Central European scale based on morphological, chemical and molecular data. Two independent genes from two genoms will be studied (nuclear ITS-LSU rDNA and mitochondrial SSU DNA). Following questions were addressed: i) Which characters are of taxonomic value within the Lecanora anopta/hypoptoides complex? ii) Do distinguishable morphotypes and chemotypes also differ on the molecular level? iii) Is the Lecanora anopta/hypoptoides complex a monophyletic group? Morphological characters will be morphometrically tested (ANOVA). Secondary chemistry will be detected by TLC. The resulting phylogeny will be proceeded by Bayesian approach. Taxonomic and nomenclatoric outputs. are expected.
