| Summary: | Pollen analysis will be used to reconstruct the trajectory of Holocene vegetation development and identify the occurrence of key species. The local evolution of the wetland and its immediate surroundings will be captured by macrofossil analysis, which will also provide suitable material for radiocarbon dating and the development of robust models of the sedimentation process. Sediment carbon analysis will provide a record of the local history of fire disturbance, and taxonomic determination of soil charcoal will identify the main tree species affected by fire. |
