Summary: Plant communities on wet meadows are among the most threatened communities in Central Europe. They are endangered by abandonment, eutrophication and habitat fragmentation. Although the threads are known, the complex studies of their individual and mutual effects on biodiversity of wet meadows are missing. In the proposed project, we want to determine effect of abandonment, eutrophication and landscape fragmentation on species and functional diversity on wet meadows in model landscape, Železné hory Mts. The effect of mowing and fertilization on functional and species diversity will be studied by experimental manipulation. Environmental data will be monitored on experimental plots and the local species pool will be assessed in all wet meadows in the studied landscape using Natura 2000 vegetation maps. The dispersal limitation of selected rare species will be studied using sowing experiment. The aim of our project is setting targets for management of wet meadows in the landscape framework
