Biorefinery and circular economy for sustainability

Name: Biorefinery and circular economy for sustainability
Researchers: Vosátka Miroslav (researcher)
Wilson Lenka (member in research team)
Provider: TA ČR
Number: TN02000044
Realization from: 2023
Realization to: 2028
Summary: The project is developing new products from renewable sources using environmentally friendly technologies, which are in accordance with Circular Economy and European Green Deal. It focuses on effective utilization of waste from agriculture, animal production, forestry, various discarded constructions, electrical facilities and plastic materials. These waste materials are used to obtain biostimulants, which help with agriculture reclamation of dumps, biopesticides, for chemical pesticides replacement, chemical synthesis, and green energy. The project consists of 7 sub-projects, dealing with different research areas, and our research team deals with plant production. In 2023 and 2024, preparatory experiments were conducted for this year’s results – 3 functional samples (a plant extract with antifungal activity, a plant growth biostimulant based on microorganisms, and a soil additive from waste plant fibres with the addition of biochar and microbes) and 1 proven technology (extraction processes for the preparation of plant preparations with bioactive substances), which are currently being finalized. The National Competence Centre project Biorefining and Circular Economy for Sustainability (TN02000044) is co-financed with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the Program for the Support of Applied Research, Experimental Development, and Innovation of National Competence Centres. This project was funded under the National Recovery Plan from the European Recovery and Resilience Facility.
