Summary: The cross-boundary landscape among Mostviertel, Waldviertel and Weinviertel on the Austrian side and South Bohemian, South Moravian and Vysočina region on the Czech side is increasingly fragmented due to housing development, road network and intensive farming. The migration corridores of the wild animal are broken. The important protected areas or other natural areas are isolated, e.g. national parks Thayatal and Podyjí or the Ramsar wetlands and peatbogs in Waldviertel and in South Bohemia. Consequently their biodiversity is threatened as a result of missing species exchange. Moreover the other threats are present as peat extraction or wetland drainage. The Institute of Botany will (i) monitor the peatbogs affected by peat extraction in the Třeboň Basin, (ii) develop the strategy for their revitalisation and (iii) realize the monitoring of localities devoted for the restoration, which will be done by the next project partner - the Administration of the South Bohemian region.
