Summary:
A development of a public on-line application about the distribution of lichen species in the Czech Republic,
including additional information and functions, is the main aim of the project. Our attempt is to create a system
usable by the state administration (e.g. Ministry of Environment), scientific institutions (universities, museums),
regional authorities, individual lichenologists and conservationists. Up to four years from the beginning, the
public will get an access to the fully functional application, containing extensive information, currently
available mostly only to specialists in lichenology. A revision of a list of lichens occurring in the Czech Republic,
assessment of the occurrence of doubtful species and the national lichen biodiversity are additional aims of the
project.
