Project Detail

Upscaling of individual species dynamics to community trends in biodiversity and composition using vegetation change data sets

Name: Upscaling of individual species dynamics to community trends in biodiversity and composition using vegetation change data sets
Researchers: Hédl Radim (head – principal researcher)
Provider: iDiv (DFG)
Realization from: 2018
Realization to: 2019
Summary: Changes over time in local-scale species diversity are often quite small compared to widespread changes in community composition, so we need to understand which types of species contribute most to these compositional shifts. Using high-quality vegetation resurvey data, we will analyse individual species contributions to community change and the functional or phylogenetic basis for such change. Initial analyses focus on temperate forest vegetation (>3200 plots), leading to potential avenues for syntheses across multiple vegetation change databases covering different biomes.
