Czech scientists have discovered new fungi – they live in saline soils and in the roots of seagrass
Mycologists from the Institute of Botany, Czech Academy of Sciences, have discovered and scientifically described two new genera of microscopic fungi that live in environments with high salt content – in sea grass near Mauritius and in salty soil in western Bohemia. The discovery shows that some species of fungi previously associated only with marine environments can surprisingly also live in terrestrial locations with high salt concentrations. The research results were published in the international scientific journal IMA Fungus.
