Institute of Botany of the CAS celebrates its 60th anniversary
On 1 January 2022, the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences celebrated 60 years since its foundation. In the six decades of its existence, it has grown from small geobotanical laboratories to the largest botanical research centre in the Czech Republic, which significantly contributes to research and nature conservation not only in the Czech Republic but also in the world. The institute has countless publications, extensive collections and databases, and important awards to its credit. Changes in the research directions of the Institute over the past 60 years show how the field of botany is changing overall and where it is moving in relation to the current needs of society and technological developments.
