I am a plant functional ecologist, with a special focus on functional (island) biogeography. I have a broad interest in examining plant-environment links at different scales and across different gradients in relation to aboveground and belowground compartments. I am particularly intrigued by exploring which plant traits and strategies promote or hinder species persistence in insular systems and refugia.
Expertise:
trait-based plant functional ecology, functional biogeography, biomass and trait scaling relationships, conservation
Education:
The University of Western Australia (Ph.D)
Employment:
Researcher at the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences
Field experience:
Temperate grasslands (Central Apennines, Italy; Zelezne Hory & Trebic, Czech Republic); Mediterranean herbfields, shrublands, woodlands on and around granite outcrops in SW Australia. My specific skills relate to sampling whole-plant (above- and belowground) functional traits, soil and (micro)climate parameters.
