Realization to:
2009
Summary:
Snow algae represent an excellent model for study of adaptations to low temperature, high irradiance and high level of the UV radiation. Effects of these factors and their combinations are evaluated by physiological (growth rate and photosynthesis measurements), biochemical (pigment and fatty acids composition analysis) and morphological (light and electron microscopy) methods. Results of laboratory experiments will be compared with field data.
