Summary: The aims of this project are 1) to develop a new approach to amplify and sequence a large part of the rDNA spanning ca 2.5 kb of almost entire SSU, ITS and part of LSU from arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) cultures as well as field root and soil samples, 2) To determine bioinformatical thresholds for different rDNA regions for all AMF lineages, 3) To clarify the taxonomical relation of SSU virtual taxa to AMF species, 4) To conduct robust phylogenies and investigate global ecological patterns of AMF.
