Summary: We lack long-term observation of forest recovery after disturbance in the context of Central Europe, which is a prerequisite for understanding the dynamics of this ecosystem and proposing a suitable management. We intend to build a spatially explicit realistic model of mountain spruce forest succession following bark beetle or windthrow disturbance. The model allow to: i) identify the key factors of mountain spruce forest succession; ii) assess the influence of forest state before disturbance on the dynamics after disturbance and iii) predict how succession will continue after several decades.
