Effects of low and freezing temperatures on photosynthesis in lichen symbiotic algae affected by ribitol

Name: Effects of low and freezing temperatures on photosynthesis in lichen symbiotic algae affected by ribitol
Researchers: Kvíderová Jana (co-researcher)

Number: KJB601630808
Realization from: 2008
Realization to: 2010
Summary: Lichen thallus tolerating freezing temperatures contains high levels of manitol and ribitol. The aim of the project is to qualify how ribitol affects photosynthesis resistance to low temperatures, and to determine ribitol concentrations that positively affect photosythetic processes at low temperatures. Studies are performed in two species of lichens, Lasallia pustulata and Umbilicaria hirsuta.
