Dynamics of spreading of woody species in central European landscape

Name: Dynamics of spreading of woody species in central European landscape
Researchers: Mácová Marcela (co-researcher)
Provider: GA ČR
Realization from: 2006
Realization to: 2008
Summary: The project attempts to capture core processes underlying migrations of selected woody species in Central European landscape by means of a spatially explicit dynamical model based on population dynamics of these species and realistic landscape structures. The model will be used for analysis and prediction of migrations both over short-term scale (recently abandoned agricultural land) and long-term scale (Holocene migrations of these species). A large array of data collection methods and input data will be used. Short-term modelling will be done in the Doupovské hory hills, a region which provides a unique opportunity to test the model at the landscape scale because large parts of this region (a military training area) have been undergoing uninterrupted succession toward forest. Data collected here will also be used to calibrate the model at the long-term scale.
