NEOBIOTA: Towards a Synthesis
Biological invasions are amongst the most dynamically developing fields of contemporary ecology. In the last decades, information has accumulated on all aspects of biological invasions, including general patterns and mechanisms of invasions, detailed knowledge of factors determining individual invasions, predictions of future trends as well as practical management. Recent trends include search for general principles valid for various taxonomic groups. NEOBIOTA, as an event, which is not restricted to certain taxonomic groups (plants, animals) or environments (terrestrial, aquatic, marine), has a potential to bring together workers from various fields and contribute towards a synthesis in biological invasions.

Conference Topics
   * Ecology of Invasive Alien Plant and Animal Species
   * Large-scale Patterns of Biological Invasions: Present and Future
   * Pathways and Vectors: Towards a General Scheme
   * Impact and Risk Assesment
   * Conservation of Biodiversity
   * Prevention, Monitoring, Control and Eradication
   * Policy and Legislation

History of Neobiota meetings:
Having started as an initiative of the German Group on Biological Invasions, NEOBIOTA has developed into a pan-European platform for discussion and exchange of information related to all aspects of biological invasions.
