Summary: Palaeocological research of the Giant Mountains (the Krkonoše) arcto-alpine tundra area was under the study. The vegetation development of the range mountain mires were provided on 7 pollen profiles of the Upské rašeliniště mire, and on 2 pollen profiles of Pančavská louka Mire. The development of Pančavská louka Mire began in the Atlantic, about 7000 years ago, and of the Upské rašeliniště Mire much later in Subboreal, 4 000 years ago. The main natural woody species Picea, Fagus, and Abies were studied in detail, and the genesis of mires as well. The palaeoecological results were correlated with radiometric data and chemistry analyses. Pollenanalytical research of the Labský důl Valley had provided new results of 12 m long profile, which gives information on landscape vegetation of the end of Pleistocene and the whole Holocene.
