Collection of aquatic and wetland plants

The collection has a character of a small specialized botanical garden and is open to students and wide public. There are more than 500 species in the exhibition, predominantly aquatic and wetland plants of Central Europe. The visitors can admire not only a rich collection of pondweeds (Potamogeton sp.), water-milfoils (Myriophyllum sp.), water-crowfoots (Batrachium sp.), fringed water-lilies (Nymphoides peltata), arrowheads (Sagittaria sp.), spike-rushes (Eleocharis sp.), rushes (Juncus sp.), cotton grass (Eriophorum sp.) and wetland sedge (Carex sp.), but also all species of water-lilies, yellow water-lilies (Nuphar sp.) and carnivorous plants that can be found in our nature. The exhibition also includes demonstrations of main wetlands biotopes, in which plants are cultivated in similar groupings that  can be observed in nature.  In summer, the collection is supplemented with several significant species from the tropics and subtropics, and there is an exhibition of selected aquatic and carnivorous plants that are geographically arranged and are on display in the greenhouse.
