Shrnutí: Mycorrhizal symbiosis of the first mycotrophic plants that colonise the spoil banks can be established as soon as the first AMF propagules disperse on the site. Although the numbers of AMF propagules in initial stages of succession on spoil banks continually increased over time, successful development of AMF was determined by the presence of mycotrophic plants. Mycorrhizal inoculation potential of the substrate increased due to the ERM network radiating from the roots of mycotrophic plants to the surrounding soil. In the presence of the ERM network, even non-mycotrophic plants became colonised both in the microcosm and field experiments. In the presence of non-mycotrophic plants, however, mycorrhizal inoculation potential of the soil temporarily decreased. The growth of non-mycotrophic plant species was suppressed by the AMF. It was shown experimentally that the level of the negative effect differs for different AMF species.
